(TORONTO) -- Tomorrow, April 28 marks the labour movement’s most solemn day, the National Day of Mourning with events taking place in cities and towns across the province and nationally.

Toronto Day of Mourning April 28: “Kill a worker, go to jail” - the only way to stop the carnage

(TORONTO) -- Hundreds of workers, friends and families of those killed and injured on the job will gather at 12 noon, Wednesday, April 28, at Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto, to commemorate the labour movement’s most solemn occasion - the annual Day of Mourning, and to call for the vigorous use of the Criminal Code of Canada provision that enables prosecution of corporate executives, directors and managers who act wrongfully or negligently.

OFL calls on unionized workers in London, Ontario NOT to use Shoppers Drug Mart

(TORONTO) -- OFL’s NEW FACEBOOK SITE: Your views on Shoppers Drug Mart’s attempt to prevent public access to lower cost generic drugs:

The Ontario Federation of Labour today issued an Open Letter to Shoppers Drug Mart blasting its lead role in undermining a government initiative to lower the cost of generic drugs by 50 per cent for the people of Ontario; threatening its workforce, and using patients and customers as pawns in its battle with the Health and Long Term Care Ministry.

OPEN LETTER TO SHOPPERS DRUG MART STOP OBSTRUCTING THE PUBLIC’S RIGHTS TO LOWER COST DRUGS

As President of Canada’s largest labour federation representing one million workers, I am calling on you to immediately cease using your customers and those who need access to medicine as pawns in your fight with the Ontario government as it attempts to lower generic drug costs by 50 per cent; to immediately restore hours in London, Ontario and eliminate your newly-imposed costs for deliveries.

Labour welcomes gutsy move by Ontario government to curb drug costs

(TORONTO) -- Today’s Health Ministry announcement is welcome news for workers and retirees with drug benefit plans, the public, and for people who rely on Ontario’s Drug Benefit Program, all of whom have been squeezed for too long by the scandalous costs of drugs.
